Midfielder Open to Nigeria Representation Signs New Bournemouth Deal
Bournemouth has announced that five academy players, including Nigerian midfielder Malachi Ogunleye, have signed new contracts with the club. Ogunleye, 18, has been with Bournemouth since the age of 11 and captained the U18s in the Professional Development League and FA Youth Cup last season.
He also featured in the Professional Development League and Premier League Cup. Before joining Bournemouth, Ogunleye played for youth teams at Chamberlayne, Netley Royals, and Fareham Town.
Born in Southampton to Nigerian parents, Ogunleye has expressed his openness to representing Nigeria at the international level. He stated, “I would be honoured to play for either country and, hopefully, one day I’ll get to make a choice.”
